We are delighted to announce that Tier 1 Asset Management has been shortlisted for CRN UK’s inaugural Tech Impact Awards.

We’re finalists in the Best Circular Economy Company category thanks to our strong focus on sustainability through IT reuse and recycling, and the life-changing social value we deliver in the process.

CRN delivers the latest news and analysis to the UK IT channel community including IT distributors, resellers and VARs. They have established the CRN Tech Impact Campaign and Awards to promote best practice when it comes to environmental and social sustainability in the channel.

Technology will play a significant role in the decarbonatisation of industry over the next decade with Atos CEO Elie Girard suggesting that digital services could help cut global carbon emissions by 15-30 per cent. The tech industry is putting a strong emphasis on reducing its own environmental footprint whilst continuing to make a social impact.

Environmental and social credentials

In an increasingly competitive sector, the most successful organisations over the coming years will have to demonstrate their environmental and social credentials to customers, employees and investors.

We are very proud of the work we do at Tier 1. Our ground-breaking prison workshop programme, which is fully funded through end of life IT disposal, has seen more than 130 offenders emerging from prison with vital qualifications in IT recycling.

Run in conjunction with charity partner ANTZ Junction, the programme is proven to reduce reoffending rates with an average rate of 7.1% compared to the national average of over 70% in the first 12 months after release.

We have created in excess of £3.4m in societal savings as well as impacted on the lives of many people from hard to reach communities and all as a result of disposing of redundant IT equipment in the most secure, compliant and ethical manner.

It is this initiative which was recognised with The Queens Award for Enterprise for Promoting Opportunity in 2019.

Winners of the CRN Tech Impact Awards will be announced on the 16th of September. Best of luck to all of the finalists.
