Tier 1 health and wellbeing

At Tier 1, we’re committed to supporting our team with their health and wellbeing. Some of our team, such as the warehouse team, are active as part of their roles, whilst others are purely office-based.

Naturally, it’s important to our business that our staff are healthy so they have the energy to be productive in their work. Ergotron’s JustStand® Index study of employees confirmed that restlessness from sitting for too long can be disruptive to an employee’s ability to focus at work.

It’s not just physical health though. Mental ill-health, including stress, depression and anxiety, is thought to account for 91 million lost working days each year, more than any other illness. There are many studies which have shown that doing physical activity can improve mental health.

As a responsible employer, we recognise our responsibility for supporting our team’s health and wellbeing. One way we are doing this is by running a wellness and team-building camp with our local gym which is open to all members of staff.

Working with personal trainer Rob Farrington, the main focus will be fitness, strength and wellbeing but done in a way that encourages team bonding. The weekly sessions will include group workouts and games, all done in a friendly and competitive spirit.

As well as boosting physical health, we hope this will have a positive impact on our team’s mental health. Studies have found that physical activity can improve sleep, boost moods and help to manage stress.

We’re looking forward to getting started and can’t wait to see the impact it has on our team.

Last year, Tier 1 won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for promoting opportunity through social mobility and this wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our team.
