We at Tier 1 are immensely proud to work with Antz Network’s Through The Gate project. Naturally, we were delighted when Antz Network featured us in the latest edition of their online magazine which you can read on their website here.
What is Through The Gate?
The project is designed to get criminal offenders trained and ready for work when they leave prison. When participants finish their sentence they leave with an NVQ in a particular subject as well as work experience within a company.
To give you an idea of how well the project works; statistically, within 12 months of leaving prison, 60% of inmates re-offend. However, just 20% of Through The Gate participants re-offend, instead becoming valuable members of society.
One former offender was quoted:
“I wanted outdoor work and had previously enjoyed working at heights as a steeplejack. Through Antz Network I enrolled on Slinger/Signaller course (fully sponsored by Ainscough Training) which I passed. Although I found it difficult to find work without any experience, with Antz continued support I persevered, and have since managed to find a job.
“I am so happy, I feel like I’m floating on air at the opportunity I was given.”

“The Antz Junction ‘Through the Gate’ programme is an integral part of Tier 1’s business strategy. It is far more than ‘commodity CSR’; it is a reflection of who we are and what we stand for”
