Duration 12 months
Qualification Accounts or Finance Assistant (Level 2), delivered by Damar Training

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work closely with our finance team on the day-to-day work that keeps the business running smoothly:

  • Customer accounts: raising and processing invoices, allocating payments, reconciling accounts and following up outstanding balances
  • Reconciliations and month end: helping with bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing information for our Management Accountant
  • Records and queries: keeping finance records accurate and organised, checking employee expenses, and handling routine queries from colleagues, customers and suppliers

As your knowledge and confidence grow, you’ll take on more responsibility across the finance function and gain exposure to the wider business.

Your training

Your training is delivered by Damar Training alongside your work at Tier1. Over the year, you’ll learn how to:

  • Record transactional data and spot issues such as reconciliation differences or mismatched invoices
  • Use accounting software to manage data accurately and securely
  • Plan and review your own tasks, and communicate clearly with colleagues, customers and suppliers

What we’re looking for

You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs, including Maths at grade 6/B or above and English at grade 5/C or above. A-Levels or BTECs in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics are desirable.

We’re also looking for:

  • Strong attention to detail and good numeracy
  • Good organisation and time management
  • Clear written and verbal communication, plus basic Excel and Microsoft Office skills

If you have other relevant qualifications or experience, include them in your application. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

What you’ll get

  • An employee assistance programme and a pension
  • A day off for your birthday
  • Regular work events
  • The option to buy extra holiday through salary sacrifice

Where it can lead

This apprenticeship is designed as the foundation for a long-term career in finance. Complete your AAT Level 2 and perform well in the role, and there will be opportunities to move on to further AAT qualifications and more advanced accounting responsibilities at Tier1.

Apprenticeships have a strong track record here. Previous Tier1 apprentices have progressed into roles including Operations Director and Operations Team Leader.
