The recycling process is a balance between disassembly and mechanical
separation of complex materials, resulting in a minimisation
of the labour intensive manual disassembly. After checking for
hazardous components the mechanical processing is applied.
Ferrous and aluminium material is initially separated, followed
by the separation of the copper based concentrate in which all
precious and other non-ferrous metals are present. During the
initial and the final stages of the process plastics are also
separated from the metal fractions.
Tier 1 will only use the recycling services of organisations
that meet the requirements of its own sub-contractor auditing
process (which includes the requirements of the ICER Accreditation
Scheme for Recyclers of WEEE) and ensure compliance with all
relevant, current Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.
