Our Expertise

Digital Inclusion Service

Since 2013, Tier 1 has been engaged with supporting a range of digital inclusion initiatives, and now delivers much more than just affordable equipment.

Given the changes being mandated through the government’s welfare reform program it has never been more important for social landlords to help their residents get online. Tier 1’s strategic partnerships enables social landlords to deliver an all-round solution that addresses the problem of digital and financial exclusion.

Getting tenants switched on with digital know how

We recognise that social housing tenants will increasingly be required to spend more time online, whether this is to look for work, claim benefits, or simply develop their skills and confidence.

Tier 1 partners with We Are Digital to deliver community based training programs, designed to support the needs of different tenant groups, combining training with the provision of an affordable device for each learner, complete with an innovative subsidy programme for equipment.

Creating digital champions for Social Landlords

The Benefits of Tier 1’s Digital Inclusion Service

  • Subsidised device helps reinforce learning experience
  • Incentive ensures attendance levels remain high throughout the course
  • Residents are able to keep the device they learn on
  • Many learners progress to become Digital Champions
  • Access to equipment and internet is often a barrier to DI
  • A range of refurbished tablets and laptops available, with our support package
  • Equipment Offers for social landlords

Tier 1 offers social landlords up to 25% discount on refurbished products listed on our web store at www.tier1online.com

  • Getting ready for Universal Credit

While it is early days for universal credit, it is important to give tenants digital skills and the confidence to undertake transactions using online channels.

Our training schemes, delivered through our partnership with We Are Digital, incorporate the use of a replica Universal Credit portal, to enable learners to practice accessing this site, along with help on budget planning and banking online, ensuring landlords minimise the likelihood of their tenants getting into rent arrears.
