Tier 1 won the 2008 European Green IT Award in the ‘Market leadership,
driving change in Green IT’ category.
We saw off stiff competition from the likes of BT Global Services,
Ricoh, AMD and Logicalis UK to win the award, which recognises
the innovation and creativity that Tier 1 has developed as part
of our end of life IT solution.
A snapshot of some of our initiatives in our submission included:
Recycled FA Cup – A perfect replica of the famous trophy
made entirely from E.ON’s computer waste for use in environmental
campaigns.
Green Garden – A peaceful space within our premises which
contains benches, tables and a covered seating area made entirely
from recycled plastics from PC and monitor casings and is
replicated for some clients who wish to give something back
to local communities.
PC Donation channel – The partnership with Digital Links
has helped with the education of 75,000 children in Africa
over the last 12 months.
Development of our sales channels and HM Government accreditation
to promote guaranteed secure re-use as opposed to recycling,
and destruction of hard drives.
